Several years ago, my husband and I diligently read the children’s Book of Mormon stories picture book (shown above) to our son. He was 4 years old when he was in the locker room of the YMCA with my husband after a swim lesson and a man with dark skin was using the locker room next to them. My 4 year old pointed to the dark skinned man and said, “look daddy, that man is lazy and not willing to work!” We were mortified! This was not a page or verse that we had read or focused on any more than any other page or verse, but it was what our son learned from us by reading to him the material published and sold by the church. That was the last day we read to him from those picture books.
